Bandwidth requirements and Codec's

To use the VoIP system, there are a few requirements to be met:

1. High speed is the best, stable Internet connection, minimum download speed of 256kb and upload speed of 256kb.  To verify connection reliability you can use packet tracing software to reveal network problems. We recommend a product called "Ping Plotter". You can download a free trial version at http://www.pingplotter.com.
2. SIP IP phone like the Linksys 942 or  you can use a SoftPhone if your PC has speakers and microphone or a headset.
3. Setup the setting with G729 codec and set the RTP PACKET SIZE at 20ms (Linksys IP phones and ATA's use 0.020)
4. A personal computer for account management.
5. Web Phone if you do not have any equipment or you think it is to hard for you to install. Quality is the same as any software or hardware, the only thing is that you have to downloaded a small program into your computer.
6. An other available tool is to test your internet speed and reliability here from your ISP.
